LG lanceert de N2B1 NAS (Network-Attached-Storage) uitgerust met een Blu-ray brander. De NAS heeft ruimte voor twee harde schijven die hot-swappable gewisseld kunnen worden.
Het systeem draait op Linux en kan onder andere dienstdoen als DLNA-, iTunes-, netwerkprinter- of torrentserver. Dankzij de DDNS service van LG zal het apparaat ook van afstand te bereiken zijn vanaf het internet.
De behuizing beschikt over een Gigabit Ethernet aansluiting evenals een geheugenkaartlezer, drie USB 2.0 poorten en een eSATA aansluiting waarmee automatisch back-ups kunnen worden gemaakt. De interne Blu-ray brander kan ook worden gebruikt voor het branden van back-ups, waarbij tot 50 GB per Blu-ray disc kan worden opgeslagen. De harde schijven kunnen worden geconfigureerd in een RAID-0, RAID-1 of JBOD configuratie.
De LG N2B1 zal binnenkort verkrijgbaar zijn en heeft een adviesprijs van $300 USD voor de versie uitgerust met een enkele 500 GB harde schijf. De N2R1 versie zonder Blu-ray brander en met DVD brander is al verkrijgbaar vanaf € 180 zonder harde schijven en voor respectievelijk € 300 en € 360 met 1 TB of 2 TB aan opslagruimte.
